![]() The meeting ends with a "show" of Banquo and his royal descendants. The Witches gather as Hecate ordered and produce a series of ominous visions for Macbeth that herald his downfall. Hecate orders the trio to congregate at a forbidding place where Macbeth will seek their art. The Sisters next appear where they are reprimanded by Hecate for dealing with Macbeth without her participation. As it is later learned, he has considered usurping the throne of Scotland. The prophecies have great impact upon Macbeth. They greet Macbeth with a prophecy that he shall be king, and his companion, Banquo, with a prophecy that he shall generate a line of kings. The Three Witches would make only then truly their presence known where they agree to meet later with Macbeth. Though she hesitated, she succumbed when the guards would come to kill the cat she befriended, and Satan freed her from her bonds before giving her to the Sisters.Īt an unspecified point in time, the Sisters met Carmilla who approached them in the hopes of having them teach her arcane and dark magic. Satan appeared before her and stated that he would only save her if she renounces her faith. The Sisters hastily accepted to which Satan then journeyed to a young girl who would be put to death under false convictions of being a witch. Seeing their plight, Satan offered to give them a third member of their coven in exchange for a boon. Satan came to the Sisters, who they described as being clad in armor as red as the "setting sun bathed in blood" with a creature that resembled a horse but lacked the majesty of the animal. ![]() However, someone did indeed answer their prayers, only it was no god, but the Devil himself. The Sisters prayed to Hecate but the goddess did not answer as they have likely strayed so far from their intended path that Hecate abandoned them all together. It is also shown that even the Witches were not spared from the Black Plague, to the point where one of their own perished and were down to two sisters instead. However, once the children were fed they would eventually be eaten by the Crones. There, the children were expected by the Crones who gave them food. People from Velen who were unable to feed their children would also send their children on the 'sweet path' which led to a village in the bog. In return, the witches would gift the people of Velen with enchanted acorns. However, those three were killed by the Sisters and made into soup by the Brewess. During the celebration, three beautiful young men and women were allowed to the mountain where they would meet the Sisters. Also, each year they celebrated a sabbath on the Bald Mountain where the people from Velen were invited to the mountain village to celebrate. Although the Sisters agreed, they always asked for something in return, for example servitude or body-parts of the ones they helped. Over the years, the people of Velen started coming for the Sisters for help. It is revealed that the Sisters once desired to join the Apostles of Hecate, but were rejected by the coven for their brutal methods. ![]() One of the sisters states that after the passing of the Witch of Izalith from the Great Flood, Hecate had been searching for students worthy of her teachings, and her search would come to an end when she came across the Weird Sisters and took them under her wing. Moreover, after their birth, they were taken in by Hecate the goddess of witchcraft and magic. ![]() Whatever the case may be, the Sisters themselves are uncertain of their lineage but they do claim to wield divine blood within them. John Constantine speculates that they were the bastard offspring of either the Norns of Norse mythology or the Moirai of Greek mythology. The origins of the Weird Sisters are shrouded in mystery. ![]() When they were met by John Constantine, they were youthful and beautifully seductive but still held a mischievous malice to them. one sister is young, the other is an adult, and the third is old. When met by Macbeth, the Weird Sisters take the form of hunched hags, but when met a second time by Macbeth, their appearance resemble the passage of mortal time i.e. The Weird Sisters would often change in appearance whenever they are visited by someone. ![]()
